Start with the serving routine
Describe who will open the pack, how the product will be measured and how it will be stored between uses. Compare a jar, bottle or pouch alongside the actual formula rather than selecting from appearance alone.
Compare the complete pack
For a bottle, discuss the closure and dispensing accessory. For a jar, check access and the measuring tool. For a pouch, consider opening and resealing. Request a physical sample of the full pack, not only an artwork rendering.
Questions for the supplier
Ask for the proposed material, dimensions, closure specification, fill quantity and label area. Clarify who supplies the measuring accessory. Discuss how the pack will be evaluated with the formula, including leakage, handling and intended transport conditions.
Review the artwork
Confirm pack dimensions before approving artwork. Check the product name, ingredient declaration, directions, storage text and batch-information area against the agreed specification. Have destination-market requirements reviewed for the actual product; a design approval is not a regulatory assessment.
Prepare your packaging brief
Record the product format, proposed fill quantity, pack, closure, serving accessory, intended market and artwork status. Mark undecided items clearly. Ask which choices affect the quotation and development schedule. Keep a versioned copy of the agreed specification.
